Four major gallery exhibitions open at UCI Claire Trevor School of the Arts

EVENT:
The Beall Center for Art + Technology along with the University Art Galleries (UAG) present four major exhibitions in all four galleries. The opening reception with the artists will take place from 2 – 5 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

WHEN/WHERE:
2 – 5 p.m. Saturday, October 1, on the Claire Trevor School of the Arts Campus. Mesa Parking Structure Parking Lot (grid D3 on campus map: https://communications.uci.edu/documents/pdf/UCI_15_map_campus.pdf)

BACKGROUND: 
The galleries at UCI will open their doors for an artist reception from 2 – 5 p.m. premiering four spate exhibitions.  The Donald R. and Joan F. Beall Center for Art + Technology presents Embodied Encounters, an inter-media exhibition featuring seven international contemporary artists. The UAG presents On This Island, a solo exhibition by Rosalind Nashashibi, curated by UAG Associate Director Allyson Unzicker, in the Contemporary Arts Center Gallery. In the University Art Gallery is the Emerging Artist Series presentation Jessica Chastain by MFA alum Maura Brewer, curated by UAG Director Juli Carson. Finally, the inaugural exhibition of the Critical Aesthetics Program Sharon Hayes’ After Before, curated by UAG Director Juli Carson, is showing in the Room Gallery.
