Dean López to Be a Featured Panelist for OC Forum’s “Visual Arts: Connecting Diverse Communities”
Dean Tiffany Ana López, Ph.D., the Dean of the UCI Claire Trevor School of the Arts (CTSA), has been selected as a featured panelist for the OC Forum’s upcoming luncheon program, “Visual Arts: Connecting Diverse Communities.” The event will take place on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at the prestigious Bowers Museum in Santa Ana. The event is hosted by the OC Forum, a non-profit organization founded in 1990 by prominent business and civic leaders in Orange County who aim to provide a platform for influential speakers who shape national ideas and discourse. The event, held in collaboration with UCI and UCI Health, will delve into the intersections between art, culture and communication, offering a thought-provoking exploration.
Dean López is renowned for her commitment to community engagement and research. As the Dean of CTSA, she is dedicated to creating professional opportunities for both students and faculty members. Prior to her position at UCI, López spent over twenty years at the University of California, Riverside, where she served as the Tomás Rivera Endowed Chair in the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. During her career, she has focused on understanding how individuals and communities navigate narratives of trauma and violence, as well as exploring the transformative power of creativity in fostering personal growth and driving social change.
Dean López is joining a distinguished collective of professionals in the arts and culture sector, including Dr. Natalie J. Graham from CSUF’s African American Studies Department, Heidi Zuckerman from the Orange County Museum of Art, and Genevieve Barrios Southgate from the Bowers Museum. The guest moderator for the event will be Sara Guerrero, the Founding Artistic Director of the Breath of Fire Latina Theater Ensemble.
